J. Lassalle, Brut Préférence 1er Cru Chigny-lès-Roses

J. Lassalle Chigny-Les-Roses Brut Premier Cru Preference N.V.

J. Lassalle was established in 1942 and is currently run by three generations of women, Olga, her daughter Chantal and grand-daughter Angéline. J. Lassalle is comprised entirely of Premier Cru holdings located in Chigny-les-Roses.  The wines undergo a long elevage and finish their malolactic fermentations.  The average elevage of the non-vintage bottlings is 5 years.  Encépagement is 60% Meunier, 20% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay for the Préférence.

Forward, stylish nose of brazil nut, cracked wheat and jasmine.  On the palate, fleshy and broad, developed citrus and slightly oiled orchard fruit: Bartlett pear, sauteed yellow peach, lemon oil.  Nervy its not but there is a moreish substance here.  A sanguine, affable wine and an immediate developer: this is one champagne that fits the non-vintage profile of immediate consumption following disgorgement.  Drink soon.
