Château Ducru Beaucaillou, Saint-Julien 1974

Ducru Beaucaillou, St.-Julien 1974

Fully mature color. Ripe, ample nose: roast chestnut, plum and butterscotch. Not a bit dry. Not the greatest of class but plump, fresh and honest. Long, subtle, positive finish. Not astringent. Remained nicely composed in bottle and in glass. I joked to no one in particular: “still needs another five years”. Most impressive for the vintage.  This will still keep if you still have them in your cellar. Drink soon.
