Soft, balanced, feminine nose: butterscotch and roast chestnut. A laid-back, mature Pinot, with touches of game and spice. But it lacks the energy and composure we remember. Showing signs of lightening up. In rouge, we usually always prefer the classicism of ’88 over the ’90.  Not in this case. The ’90 Henri Gouges Les Saint Georges is far superior (the ’90 Henri Gouges Les Saint-Georges is about as good as it gets for NSG 1er Cru and one with an incredible future). In comparison, its downhill from here for the ’88; it was better two years ago and much better five years ago.  Drink soon.
