Domaine Bruno Clair, Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Saint-Jacques 1er Cru 2001

Bruno Clair

Full color.  Fragrant nose: mostly redcurrant, some floral notes, hints of chocolate and toffee.  On the palate a wine of grace, depth and harmony with a nice burst of intensity from the mid-palate onwards.  Long. Very good grip.  Still a little earthy with grainy, forward tannins – typical of ’01.  Classy and finely calibrated.  We love the purity of the Bruno Clair wines but sometimes they can be a little lean; this one is not.  Now – 2025.
