Lemon yellow. Intense, saturated, with Scheurebe-like overtness and essence: black currant and stone fruit, clove, red slate. This is confirmed on the richly textured, sherbet-y palate: peach stone, apricot, pineapple, cassis. A grapefruit-infused acidity to balance out the sumptuous Grafenberg fruit; surely this is one of the more successful ’06 spätlesen. Tensile, mineral and long. Should have a bright future. Now – 2026+.
