Medium cherry red color. On the nose, a bit chunky and rustic: black raspberry rôti, some herb and spice undertones. Some oak. Medium weight and body to the palate. Good balance and acidity, less so grip. A relatively clean and honest Beaune Bressandes 1er Cru. Not too brutish as Beaunes can be but lacking a bit in the areas of concentration, charm, lusciousness. A good wine but given its a ’99 we were hoping for a little more. Now – 2015.
