Domaine Joseph Drouhin, Chassagne-Montrachet (villages) 1996

Joseph Drouhin, Chassagne-Montrachet 1996 #3

Last bottle.  Canary yellow with gilded hints.  Burnished but never blowsy: dried fruit and nut, blossom-honey, sweet tarragon.  Scrupulous and citric underneath.  Quite full and well textured on the palate for a villages, with a lovely lift at the end from the sweetness of its mature fruit.  First-rate acidity.  Detailed minerality.  Articulate for a wine of its caliber and its age.  Elegant, mature Chassagne.  For drinking soon.
