Domaine Christian Sérafin Père et Fils, Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru 1990

Fullish ruby.  A little hidden at first, then big ’90 flavors about a half hour in. Deep, fullish rôti flavors: lightly roasted black fruit and chestnut; mocha, indian spices, tree resin.  Old-viney palate: loganberry and plum tart. The texture of satin.  Very good grip.  The tannins and oak (the Serafin wines imported into the U.S. can be quite oaky) are now resolved and there is incisive acidity to keep all that flamboyant fruit poised, firm and fresh. Sensual Cazatiers.  Now – 2020+.
