A shimmering yellow-gold color. A clean, ripe, vervy nose: slightly floral white and yellow orchard fruit, elderflower, tarragon, basswood and schist. Focused and authoritative on palate, with just the barest trace of brown spice: crunchy Newtown Pepin apple, Mandarin orange and Nashi pear. Fleshy and luscious without spilling over the side into oil and saturated fat. Tart and malic. A delicate but precise lattice of green acidity keeps it all firm and fresh. Not the greatest depth but pure, essential and charming. It’ll still be a while now before the fruit on this begins to retire. Very good Auslese. Now – 2020+.
