Philippe Prié, Brut Tradition Millésimé Aube 2002

Prie 2002 #2

Prie 2002 #1

50% Pinot Noir; 50% Chardonnay. From La Côte des Bar.

A pale straw yellow color.  Silvan, somewhat driven nose: slightly floral yellow orchard fruit, lissome fern, chicory, singed toast, chalk dust.   A tenderness (but not slight!) and delicacy on the palate: lemon blossom, bergamot, jonagold apple.  Medium-body.  A racy length: mineralic, lavender finish.  Perhaps not the most refined effort (for example, you will have seen a more finessed bead before) but satisfying for those who have a place in their heart for low-fat, mineral-rich vintage Champagne.  Now – 2018.
