Medium yellow color with emerald hints.  Rich, resonant nose: slightly floral botrytised fruit, linden & freesia, baking spice, slate, diesel.  Fullish body and texture, resinous and sappy: cinnamon apple tart, pear oil and lime honey.  Good grip for a ’99 – understated “I’m here if you look for me” acidity.  Balanced, harmonious and pure.  Perhaps a bit too symmetrical: this is straight down the middle single star auslese from the Saar.  We would have like to have seen a little more flair and personality – so exceedingly competent rather than memorable.  Now – 2020+.
