Château Larmande, Saint-Émilion 1989

Larmande 1989 #1

Larmande 1989 #2

Bright ruby, salmon pink rim.  Pure, firm, focused nose: mineral infused black cherry fruit with touches of mint, grass, iron and black olive.  Mocha and spice undertones.  Just a hint of espresso from the now seamlessly integrated new oak.  A composed generosity on the palate, lush yet scrupulous, medium-full: bigarreau cherry, fig and plum tart.  Structured and concentrated.  Very good grip and acidity.  Harmonious and long.  A classically rendered ’89.  Never a barnburner, this has aged gracefully: à point.  Now – 2019.
