A shimmery cherry red color. Fecund nose: slightly smoky red fruit tinged with bramble, wild herb and earth. The wood treatment here is most judicious, informing this wine’s framework only. Forthright, lase yet structured on the palate, of modest body and weight: cherry stone, orange peel, pomegranate. Present but quiet tannins, not at all severe, with an acidity etched in chalk. A nice length. Of good character and quite generous for one of Burgundy’s more humble climats. Now – 2016.
