Fifteen years on tasting.
Perfumed, lifted, tensile nose: licorice, bitter chocolate, singed chestnut, vanilla oolong and tonka bean. It’s oaky but not too highly wrought. Suave, crushed velvet texture, a fondue of summer red and forest black berry: black currant leaf, griotte cherry, liqueurous red raspberry. Some depth now. Decent grip. A touch of astringency – some of that is vintage, some of that is barrel toast. Seems a more successful and complete cuvée today than it was on its tenth birthday. Overall: a nice example of Méo’s stylish seduction. And worth keeping. Now – 2023.
