Fullish ruby red, purple to the rim. Glam, carnal nose with a char-y reductive streak: raspberry eau de vie, soy, nutmeg, black cardamom. Barrel tones of spice and vanilla. Some density and a sève texture to this Santenots with aspirations for velvet, medium-full: black raspberry liqueur, forest black cherry. Dusty, chalk-mineral-cocoa powder finish. Nicholas went easy enough through the fermentative extraction here; this ’06 Santenots does not reflect the hail. Modern without being forced. If you are drinking this today, think about giving it a couple hours for the oak toast to lift. Sanguine, masculine Santenots. We would think about consuming the majority of these by its tenth birthday; will keep for fifteen+. Now – 2016+.
