Domaine Joseph Faiveley, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 1999

Faiveley Corton Charlemagne 1999 #4

Antique golden.  A bit hidden at first.  Then a deep and evocative fragrance, a nose of impact, adornment and torque.  Quite a ravishing display of orchard fruit and mineral saturation; beurre blanc with lemon zest, coriander, beeswax, mimosa blossom, acacia honey.  Muscular yet curvaceous, anvil dense without undue weight, a fruit gestalt of spiced pear, honeyed peach, apricot pastry.  A fine lattice of citric acidity and stone minerality gives this ornamented fruit its superior animation and lift.  Baroque Corton Charlemagne in western pleasure lope.  Now – 2015+ (but for fans of white burgundy in its bronzed splendor this can and will make old bones > 30 years).
