More a cerise pink. A swollen red fruit hamper, coppery, bucolic and a little sweet. Fecund and spicy, with notions of Drambuie and christmas punch. Quinine and yuzu counterpoint. Like last year’s bottle, the acidity is slightly spiky and gives the intimation of sitting beside the fruit. Juicy Rosé with a rustic tilt; we prefer his BdB. Drink soon.
September 2012
Salmon pink. Rich, open, slightly coarse nose: spiced red fruit, hibiscus, wet hay, gingerbread. A summer garden of swollen red pinot flavors on the palate: strawberry, raspberry. A bit confectionary. Barb says, “Red Vines and Starburst”. Notes of citrus pith and blood orange gives this counterpoint and nuance. A whack of grapefruit-rind acidity gives it a sweet-sour impression. Tumescent, slightly unknit Rosé. Now – 2015.
