Youthful for its age, straw to lemon yellow. Fragrant and deftly charred: graphite, cool jasmine, ginger preserve, chalk, gyokoru infusion. Fullish body. Resplendent apple-tart and honey-nut fruit. Kitten teeth acidity, frisky and snappily structured. Long, mineral-salted finish. Perhaps just a step behind the very best in refinement (mousse, bead) yet this is magnanimous, pencil-rich Avize. Will keep for ages and will gain in harmony, particularly in large format. Now – 2020.
