Fullish ruby, stained in magenta still. Meaty, succulent nose: forest black raspberry and black cherry, animal fur, nettle. Spicy toasted. Muscular in the mouth: galvanic, concentrated, brambly fruit. Full weight. Ripe, feral tannin. Impressive structure with noteworthy depth for a ’97. Give Jadot a high-five for navigating the difficult, downright bizarre conditions that marked the ’97 vintage. An excellent result and will last much longer than most ’97 grand crus. Now – 2017+.
