Limpid garnet robe, faded rim. Unfolds intracately, an apex of Côte-Rôtie fragrance: mulberry, wilted violet, pungent game and smoky garrigue. Vigorous and expressive. Of medium body. Good succulence and firm grip. A touch of rusticity but far from rude; this has been pounded out over thirty-five years into something more tapered. Schist and mica finish; more Côte Blonde than Côte Brune at the end. Scrupulous, traditional Côte-Rôtie. Now – 2018.
