Laurent-Perrier, Brut Millésimé Tours-sur-Marne 1999

Laurent Perrier Vintage Brut 1999 #250% Pinot Noir; 50% Chardonnay.  Pinot Noir from grand cru vineyards in the Montagne de Reims including Verzy, Verzenay, Ambonnay, Tours-sur-Marne.  Chardonnay from grand cru vineyards in the Côte des Blancs including le Mesnil, Cramant, Oger and Chouilly.  Aged in bottle on lees for a minimum of seven years before being disgorged.  2010 release.

Fifteen-years on tasting.

Youthful color, yellow-gold.  Pain grillé toasted.  Vigorous pencil, ginger and cherry blossom intimations.  Dried fruit, tangelo, and ripened yellow apple with a cidery tinge.  Underneath, good precision and structure.  Firm yet generous mineral and quinine finish.  This Millésimé grows on you: certainly more substance and depth than what was initially apparent.  Can still be kept.  Now – 2019.
