Domaine Joseph Drouhin, Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 1999

Drouhin Batard 2004Fifteen-years on tasting.

Mostly canary yellow with touches of gold.  A spherical, broad-backed powerhouse with gravitas: apple blossom, tonka bean, tree sap, mead.  Seamless, vanilla crème toasted.  Flambéed peach and pear, drenched in Bâtard butter and nut – flamboyant and concentrated but not overweight.  Good grip underneath.  An enveloped citrus fruit precision and mineralic lines etched throughout the resplendent finish.  Not too much longer now though.  For drinking soon.
