Twenty-five years on tasting.
Well-colored, luminous ruby, just a touch of development at the rim belies its age. Fullish and expressive, not too muscular, with a tilt towards the metaphorically dark: Mazis meat and peat. Dark-skinned plum, forest black cherry, leather, spice and a humid, tarry garrigue. Vigorous, articulate and quite mineralic at the end. A wine of richness and amplitude with touches of grand cru finesse: a broody, lunar Mazis. This can still be kept. Now – 2020+.
