From a single large parcel in the heart of the original Charlemagne vineyards of Corton. Separate fermentation of each vineyard block. A year in barrel with late summer malolactic. Full six months on the fine lees in tank.
Fifteen years on.
Lemon yellow with gilded hints. Sunlit with a granitic determination underneath: mutsu, yellow peach, nut-skin and mother rock. So densely crammed with ripe, enveloped fruit it gives off the impression of sucrosité. Quivering with nervosité, fibrous in its matière, as if this Martray has been hewn out of ancient trees from old-growth forest. A magma of minerality, both front and back. Overall, still a bit arch. A keeper for the cellar. Now – 2020+.
