From magnum. 70% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay from grand cru vineyards in Verzenay. 2008 base vintage plus reserve wines. Raised in tank and clay.
Yellow-gold. Robust and distinctively old-school in style: it reminds me of my grandfather and a generation of men that always wore a hat. Ripe and broad-backed with touches of bruise and burnish: pain grillé toast, singed hazelnut, cidery yellow-apple. It grips with a purpose. Finishes with authority and without rigidity. A paradigm of Verzenay; it speaks plainly and only hints at the complexity underneath. Now – 2020.
