100% Chardonnay from the single vineyard ‘Les Chétillons’ in Mesnil. Base 2008 vintage with 10% reserve wines. Raised in iron vats. Aged three+ years on the lees. Unknown dosage and disgorgement. Four atmospheres (59psi) of pressure rather than the normal six (88psi).
A couple ticks lighter in pitch than the Réserve. At once implicit and explicit: orange-blossom, newtown pippin and kaffir lime, tangerine-zest. Not the puffery of the Réserve but just as mouth-filling. More specificity, articulate chalk and steel, finishing logical and mineralic. Readable yet correct Chétillons. For drinking soon; I believe Launois NVs are exactly as they are intended, to be consumed upon release.
