From old, ungrafted vines in two parcels totally .10 ha; from a steep, south-facing, sun-bathed vineyard in the Middle Mosel.
This is AP#3.
Yellow-gold. Eggy reductive notes still: much easier to read this on day two. Pungent, bold and sienna-spicy, its flavors tilt towards the red oxides of the Ürzig: maple, apples lightly sautéed in cinammon and butter, yellow nectarine. Yet this is fine-boned and complex for all its bigness. For Erdener Prälats, the conciliation of mass and nuance is an incremental one; at twelve years on, this is shedding the thunder of its youth, emerging more intricate, beginning to reveal its facets. Dancing acidity. Galvanic and long, with a lingering hint of sassafras and mineralic slate. Still miles to go. Now – 2025+.
