Château Cos d’Estournel, Saint-Estèphe 1989

Cos D'Estournel 1989

Twenty-five years on tasting.

Bright, medium-ruby.  At full-maturity now, glossy and concentrated like demi glacé with a fragrant demerara-sweetness.  Cherry confit and spice.  Satiny richness but not fat: fine acidity, energy and length.  The finish is a finely-pulverised gravel.  Like many of the ’89s the grip is good not great so think about finishing these up in the near-term.  Now – 2019.
