Château Léoville Las Cases, Saint-Julien 1989

Leoville Cases 1989 #1

Twenty-five years on tasting.

Glassy, immature ruby.  At the midpoint between youthfulness and maturity, still rather deeply-set in its cherry-menthol glaze.  Purposeful and focused to within an inch of its life.  Kernel-like concentration.  Vulcan grip.  Vibratory finish.  An unearthly stoicism with a majestic sense of space: it’s Big-Sky St.-Julien.  Still much to be unlocked.  Now – 2030+.
