Perrier-Jouët, Brut Special Réserve ‘Belle Epoque’ (Fleur de Champagne) Épernay 1999

Fifteen years on.

Yellow-gold.   Pinot Noir leads the way with an inferential touch: verdant fern, woodsy balsam, earthy enoki and fresh alfalfa straw.  Then summery and sensual, peaches and tangerine with a suave sweet lick of hive-buzz.  Finishes with telltale coffee-bean torrefaction and a filigreed minerality.  A bodacious Fleur, showing well now.   Now – 2020+ .
