Domaine Vincent Girardin, Chassagne-Montrachet La Romanee Vieilles Vignes 1er Cru 2004

Girardin Chassagne Romanee 2004 #1

Ten years on tasting.

Lemon yellow with golden hints.  Cool, serious and dimensional, blanketed in verdure and streaked in marine salinity: iodine sea air, lovage, tree bark, lemon oil.  Resiny citrus fruit with scrupulous detail.  Penetrating wet-stone minerality at the end.  A pixelated La Romanee with superb animation.  Has the strength and grip to go the distance.  Now – 2020.
