Ruby.  The nose spreads like an alluvial fan, smells of the Gironde estuary; he’s robust without the rigidity, sleeps the sleep of the just.  A maturing sweetness, luscious by the standards of old-school Gruard Larose.  Still mandible grip and animated in his interplay of blackberry, gravel and tincture.  Unadorned at the end, where the poverty of his sub-soil leaves an adamant mineralic inprint.  Now – 2020+.
