Domaine Michel Gaunoux, Pommard Les Grands Epenots 1er Cru 2002

Fifteen years on.

The wine swings in a wide arc and we cannot remember a more jewel-like ruby color.  Complexity as paradox and in this sense the wine acts bifurcated: horizontal solidity on one side, excruciating detail on the other.  Saline and polished and the galvanic finish is a thumbprint of Epenots.  Reassuring, as always.  Now – 2032+.
