Chéreau Carré, Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine ‘Le Clos du Chateau l’Oiseliniere’ 2005

De Maison Selections, Chapel Hill NC.

From eighty year old vines in a sheltered, riverside site of eroded orthogneiss and schist.  Thirty months on the lees.

Yellow-gold. Secondary notes of toasted barley and ocean-front caramel to the lush yellow ripeness of ’05. Face cream, hawthorn, and iron ore with a pronounced grip and saltiness. Textural for Muscadet. Long and ashen at the end. Now – 2020+.
