Josef Leitz, Rüdesheimer Berg Kaisersteinfels ‘Terrassen’ Riesling Rheingau 2013

Imported by Schatzi Wines, Milan NY.

70+ year old vines from a small terrace vineyard above Berg Schlossberg composed of stoney red slate and quartzite.  Classified as ‘VDP Grosse Lage’ because it tastes dry but is not technically so.

This is AP#47.

Five years on.

Lemon yellow.  Palpably extract-rich with overtly floral inner-mouth aromas.  Saturated with passion fruit and smoky minerality but still a bit wrung out compared to the Rottland Hinterhaus.  Needs time.  Now – 2025+.
