Marc Hébrart, Brut Rosé 1er Cru Mareuil-sur-Aÿ

Terry Theise and Michael Skurnik Wines, Syosset, NY.

Assembling the 2012 through 2014 vintages, this is an an even blend of Chardonnay (2014 vintage) and Pinot Noir (reserve wine from 2012 and 2013, including 6.5% still wine, raised in neutral cask) from estate vineyards in Mareuil. Disgorged July 2016. Dosage: 7 g/l.

Blushing pink.  A singular expression of the bright red fruit from the Grande Vallée, where the combination of creaminess with vivacity and cut is memorably achieved.  White clover and cress, fenugreek and woodland strawberry with rhubarb counterpoint.  The expression of chalk billows in the manner of high altitude convection.  Now – 2025.
