Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey, Bommes 2003

Classic Wine Imports, Norwood MA.

Orange-copper.  Broad and rustic, orange marmalade and ripe damsons and botrytized spice.  A bomber whose payload of weight and richness enters monochromatically and doesn’t budge.  My comment about this ’03 is consistent with my thoughts on the vintage as whole: not enough zip, not enough movement and, as result, a bit facile.  This paired best with a sheep’s milk blue cheese from Ireland, the wine coming up a bit short paired to a Stilton and a Roquefort.  Now – 2025+.
