Ruby. From a rocky, thinly-soiled spot in the “true” Charmes but this does not translate as a wine with lots of nooks and crannies. It’s a sleek, polished and long-lined performance, a lovely meld of cassia, choke cherry, beef marrow and cocoa powder flavors. There is a similarly delightful counterpoint between creaminess of texture and an abundance of bright fruit acids. Dark mineral, toasted spice and pungent herbs add invigorating complexity.
