Domaine Bernard Dugat-Py, Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux-Saint-Jacques 1er Cru 2005

Peter Weygandt and Metzler Importing, Unionville PA.

Fifteen years on.

Ruby. Opens as a May blaze of wisteria in full bloom and whose flux of fresh fruit smells and tastes like the proverbial bowl of morello cherries. Polished and incipiently creamy, it’s like a velvet pillow after the firm mattresses offered by the two Gevrey Lavauxs that followed. Licorice, beet root and bone broth lend complexity to this wine’s lush fruit and inform a finish of refined structure and imposing length that sleights neither animal nor mineral. Now – 2035+.
