Diageo Chateau & Estate Wines, New York NY.
Thirty five years on.
Ruby. The nose is still firmly in its second phase evolution. Dried fruit, copper tincture, cedar, and cigar box with some coolness from the pressed violet and tea leaf associations. The palate is a spinal column of indigo fruit around a tight core, with a close-knit intensity of gras from within. The tannins will have (and will probably always have) a dry top, but the fat below sorts them out. Mocha and iron at the end. A virile wine of movement and stimulus. Now – 2035+.
