Louis Roederer, Brut Cristal Riems 2004

Roederer Cristal 2004

Yellow-gold. Its fragrance is purely expressed, has hidden corners. Really high-toned verbena, limezest, white peach and hyacinth. It has a classic reserve about it, with tiny, detailed outcrops of smoky white fruit. It’s drier than the `06 was, not as fleshy, more sinew, with long scallop and oyster flavors. Quite “straight” and scrupulous and logical. It keeps ticking over, and has admirable length. `05 is more gushing; ’08 is more incisive. Now – 2040+.
