Domaine Huet, Vouvray Moelleux Le Clos du Bourg 2007

Fifteen years on.

Golden yellow. From a six hectare vineyard site completely surrounded by a stone wall and just above the church in Vouvray, the nose opens with a dry soil statement and evinces cistern, seaside taffy shop, vanilla flowers, goyruko, timothy hay. The palate reaches out very well, rides on yellow-skinned fruits, fresh citrus, marzipan, pistachio, rhododendron honey. For all of its ripeness, there is a sense of textural firmness underlying the palate impression here, and its great ace is its tension and progression. It is fairly thin soil inside this clos, roughly three feet deep, and laying directly on top of non-active limestone. Now – 2030+.
