Gold. The has gained in depth, expression and variety, and maintained its structured line of freshness all the way through. Still threads a vanilla pastry theme, with a rising of satsuma and dried apricot, the sea and its conviction underneath. Long finish, with fine articulation. Now – 2025+.

August 2013

More yellow than gold. The nose is opening well, gives a swirl of orchard fruit, freesia, singed almond, blossom honey. Vanilla, spice and melted butter toast from the wood. A cherubic opulence on the palate, fullish with a summery warmth and solar ripeness.  Butterscotch and mango undercurrent. Insistent lines of chalk and powdered stone minerality.  Still youthfully taut but not constricted so of good length. An almost floral astringence and a touch of wood tannin to resolve. Not singing in concert yet: the acidity here is good to justify space in your cellar to see if this truly blossoms. Now – 2025+.
