100% Chardonnay, all grand cru Ambonnay fruit (René Coutier’s father was the first to plant Chardonnay in Ambonnay in 1946).  2008 base vintage with reserve wines.  Raised in steel.  Partial malo blocked.  Dosage: 6 g/l.  Disgorged May 2012.

Yellow-gold.   Tangerine juice and the pulpy richness of Montagne de Reims.  Chardonnay sheds all of its affect in the clay-chalk terroir of the Ambonnay; this isn’t huffy at all!  At once expressive and extravagant, with ringent spice and mineral saltiness at the end.  Now – 2020.
