Selbach-Oster, Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Riesling Feinherb Spätlese ‘Ur’ Alte Reben Mosel 2012

Terry Theise and Michael Skurnik Wines, Syosset, NY.

Five years on.

From old-vines in the sirloin parcel ‘Kackert’ within the Sonnenuhr.

This is AP#19.

Emerald.  The Gretsch guitar of Riesling, where old school is the new school and the wine has it all: amplitude, texture, relief, and counterpoint.   Savory spice and slate articulate the nose, the orange-shaded fruit is pristine and crunchy and the acidity acts like a rudder.  Smart stuff indeed.  Now – 2027+.
