Ruby. The nose is rustic, like the hollow at the base of a ancient tree. It gets off to a blocky start, is more than a bit demanding. The palate fruit is red shaded and hedgerow, with pronounced acidity and Champonnet’s mineral spine. No easy sweetness but it has more than enough matière to move through a terrain of tannin. Closes on blood and marmite. Now – 2028+.
