Domaine Emile Champet, Côte-Rôtie 1989

Thirty five years on.

Carmine. The nose is beautifully evolved and lifted, has clear mineral tones, gives smoky, dark airs with spiced plum, cooked prune, mocha, game, old books, a lightly cheesy edge. On the palate it’s delicate on entry, with a little white pepper grain to keep it upright. Blackberry fruit with dusted moments come along towards the finish, turns savory, tinged with garrigue. Now.
