Château Montrose, Saint-Estèphe 1990

Thirty five years on.

Ruby. Big, heady, spicy bouquet with a touch of brasciola meatiness. The flavor profile is entrenched, and its warmth and fat come in a robust style. A little dampness, gentle cedar, mature cassis, assam tea, and parma violet. The palate is established in its variety and depth, has a solid heart, and the texture is like taffeta. I like its vintage imprint, with gravel and a touch of heat on the long finish. Now – 2035+.
