Domaine Méo-Camuzet, Échézeaux Les Rouges du Bas Grand Cru 2001

Twenty five years on.

Ruby. A beautifully perfumed and transparently expressed Échézeaux, opening with an aromatic mix of sour cherry, raspberries, strawberries, and red currant, layered with savory notes of spice, gentle sauvage, underbrush, and a subtle mineral undertone. The nose is expressive without excess, clearly rooted in red fruit.

On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and notably elegant, with juicy, vibrant red fruit carried by a refined texture and excellent balance. Oak is finely integrated, supporting rather than shaping the wine. There is clarity and lift throughout, with cherry and spice carrying through to a long, graceful finish that lingers effortlessly.

Textbook Méo-Camuzet from a classical vintage, offering immediate pleasure with classical Burgundian poise. From 50-year-old vines from the top of the slope in lieu-dit Rouge du Bas. Now – 2035+.
