Domaine Louis Jadot, Vosne-Romanée Suchots 1er Cru 1996

Thirty years on.

Ruby. A compelling snapshot of 1996 through a Vosne lens. Aromatically, there’s an interplay of red and black cherry fruit with classic Vosne spice, ceding ground to secondary and tertiary notes of sous-bois, leather, tobacco. The palate is structured and energetic, bright acidity still drives the line of the wine, while live tannins frame a core of dense, dark red fruit. This is more linear and focused than expansive, emphasizing precision and grip over lushness. The finish is long, savory, structured, suggesting a wine that remains true to the vintage’s tensile character. Négociant wine. Now – 2035.
